How TeamCare Scheduling Works with Denticon (AppointNow)

Last updated: September 16, 2026

Who this is for: Practices running TeamCare on top of Denticon, and the TeamCare support team helping them set up online booking.

The one-line summary: With Denticon, TeamCare does not build its own availability. It asks Denticon what's bookable through Denticon's AppointNow service and books only into the slots Denticon returns. If a slot isn't configured as available in Denticon, TeamCare can't show it or book it — no exceptions.

Why Denticon is different from our other integrations

With most practice management systems, TeamCare reads the schedule directly and applies its own booking logic to find and offer open time. We control how availability is calculated and how appointments are written back.

Denticon works differently. Denticon exposes appointment availability through an internal service called AppointNow, and TeamCare retrieves bookable times through it (via Denticon's GetAvailableAppointmentSlots). That changes the model in three ways:

  • TeamCare doesn't decide what's available — Denticon does.

  • Availability follows the office's Denticon AppointNow configuration, not TeamCare's scheduling rules.

  • Anything not set up in AppointNow simply won't appear as bookable in TeamCare.

In short: with Denticon, TeamCare has to follow Denticon's internal schedule and rules to post appointments. It can't override them.

What you must set up in Denticon for TeamCare booking to work

Because Denticon is the source of truth, TeamCare booking is only as complete as your AppointNow setup. Every item below lives in Denticon:

  1. Office email — the location must have an assigned email address, or AppointNow won't return availability.

  2. Operatories — Setup → Offices → Operatory tab.

  3. Office hours — Setup → Office → Schedule. Set day start/stop and lunch start/stop for each day.

  4. Holidays / closures — Setup → Office → Schedule → Holidays (one-time or recurring).

  5. Provider watermarks — Setup → Providers → Watermarks. These define when each provider is available and for which production types. No watermark = no availability.

  6. Scheduler Production Type visibility — Setup → Misc Setups → Scheduler Production Type. Each appointment type must be set to Visible in AppointNow = Yes, with a duration, to be bookable.

  7. Production types per provider — each provider must have at least one production type set to Yes. A provider with no production types enabled will not appear in TeamCare at all.

If any of these is missing or restrictive, patients will see fewer slots — or none.

How to verify the AppointNow configuration

Denticon has a built-in status page that shows exactly what AppointNow will return. Check it before assuming a booking problem is on the TeamCare side:

Help → Downloads and Links → "To Check AppointNow Setting" → click "Here"

That page confirms:

  • Office setting (name, address, phone, email) — should read PASS

  • Which Scheduler Production Types are visible, and their durations

  • The appointment slot duration

  • Which providers are visible in AppointNow

  • Which production types are assigned to each provider's schedule

If a check doesn't pass, or a provider/type is missing here, TeamCare can't fix it — it has to be corrected in Denticon.

Troubleshooting

No available slots showing in TeamCare Check, in Denticon: office email assigned, office hours set for that day, no holiday/closure, provider watermarks exist, and at least one production type is visible in AppointNow.

A provider isn't appearing That provider needs at least one production type set to "Yes" in AppointNow, plus watermarks defining their availability.

An appointment type isn't offered Set the Scheduler Production Type to Visible in AppointNow = Yes and confirm it's assigned to a provider.

Appointment lengths look wrong Durations come from Denticon (per production type and the office default), not TeamCare.

A day shows as closed Check office hours and holidays in Denticon for that date.

Key takeaways

  • With Denticon, TeamCare surfaces and books availability — it doesn't generate it.

  • Denticon's AppointNow configuration is the source of truth for hours, providers, appointment types, durations, and closures.

  • Most "TeamCare isn't showing the right times" issues with Denticon are AppointNow configuration issues, and are resolved in Denticon.

  • When in doubt, check the AppointNow status page in Denticon first.
