Capacity Dashboard
Last updated: July 27, 2026
The Capacity dashboard shows how much chair time and how many patient slots you actually have — and how that compares to the visits you're delivering. It's the "supply" side of the schedule: before you can raise your fill rate, you need to know how much capacity there is to fill.
Find it under Schedule → Analytics → Capacity (/schedule/analytics/capacity) — the third pill in the Analytics section.
Capacity Is Measured by Appointment Type
Capacity is scoped to an appointment type (it defaults to Cleaning / hygiene). Use the appointment-type selector to switch which type you're analyzing. Because capacity is driven by your configured provider hours and time slots, hygiene is the primary focus.
Your capacity settings — operatories, prime-time hours, and time periods — are configured under Schedule → Admin → Settings → Analytics.
Three Views: Weekly, Daily, Monthly
The date control switches between three ways of looking at capacity. Weekly is the default.
Weekly (default)
A Current Weekly Capacity row of tiles:
Tile | Meaning |
|---|---|
Total Weekly Hours | All configured chair hours for the week |
Prime Time Hours | Hours falling in your peak morning/evening windows |
Standard Hours | Hours outside prime time |
Patient Capacity | How many patients those hours can hold |
Below the tiles:
A Capacity Heatmap showing capacity across the days of the week.
A Weekly Breakdown table with columns Day / Standard Hours / Prime Time Hours / Total Hours / Capacity / Detail.
Daily
Tabs for Mon–Sun, each labeled with its total hours (e.g. "Mon (8h)"). Each day shows tiles for Standard Hours, Prime Time Hours, Total Hours, and Patient Capacity, plus an operatory calendar of that day's capacity slots. If a day has no capacity set up, you'll see "No capacity configured for <Day>."
Monthly (Historical Capacity)
A longer-term view:
A Capacity vs Hygiene Visits chart (y-axis "Monthly Patients") overlaying two series — Patient Capacity (what you could hold) and Hygiene Visits (what you actually delivered).
A Time Periods table of the historical capacity periods.
If there's no history yet, you'll see "No historical capacity periods available."
💡 Tip: The gap between Patient Capacity and Hygiene Visits on the monthly chart is your unrealized capacity — patients you had room for but didn't see. Closing that gap is exactly what the Schedule view's openings and the Show Rate dashboard help you do.
Standard vs Prime Time Hours
Capacity is split into Prime Time (your configured peak morning/evening hours) and Standard (everything else) so you can see how much of your valuable time exists and whether it's being used. Set which hours count as prime time under Schedule → Admin → Settings → Analytics.
How to Use It
Open Schedule → Analytics → Capacity.
Pick the appointment type you're planning around (e.g. Cleaning).
Start on Weekly to see your current hours and patient capacity.
Switch to Daily to see how a specific day is built, operatory by operatory.
Switch to Monthly to compare planned capacity against the hygiene visits you actually delivered.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does "Patient Capacity" mean? The number of patients your configured chair hours and time slots can hold for the selected appointment type — your maximum, before considering how many actually book or show.
Q: What's the difference between Standard and Prime Time hours? Prime Time is your configured peak morning/evening hours; Standard is everything else. They're shown separately so you can see how much premium capacity you have.
Q: Why is capacity tied to an appointment type? Capacity depends on which providers and time slots serve which appointment types, so the numbers change with the type you select. It defaults to Cleaning (hygiene).
Q: A day shows "No capacity configured." What does that mean? No capacity has been set up for that day for the selected appointment type. Configure it under Schedule → Admin → Settings → Analytics.
Q: What's the "Capacity vs Hygiene Visits" chart telling me? It overlays how many patients you could have seen (Patient Capacity) against how many you did see (Hygiene Visits), month by month — the gap is your unrealized capacity.
