Using Anonymization Mode in TeamCare

Last updated: March 29, 2026

Protecting patient privacy is a top priority, especially when you need to share your screen. Anonymization Mode allows you to mask sensitive patient information across the TeamCare interface, replacing real data with placeholder values.

When to Use Anonymization Mode

This feature is designed for scenarios where you need to display the TeamCare interface without exposing Protected Health Information (PHI):

  • Demos: Presenting TeamCare to prospective clients.

  • Meetings: Screen sharing during internal team meetings or webinars.

  • Training: Onboarding new staff members using live data environments.

  • Content Creation: Recording video walkthroughs or tutorials.

How to Enable or Disable

  1. Click your profile avatar in the top-right corner of the navigation bar.

  2. In the dropdown menu, locate the Anonymize toggle.

  3. Flip the toggle ON. The page will automatically reload with patient data masked.

  4. To return to standard view, simply flip the toggle OFF.

Core Functionality & Limitations

  • Visual Only: This mode only changes what is displayed on your screen. It does not modify, encrypt, or permanently alter the underlying patient records.

  • Per-User Setting: This is an individual preference. Enabling it on your account will not affect what your colleagues see on theirs.

  • Session-Based: The setting persists for your current login session. If you log out or your session expires, the toggle will reset to OFF by default.

  • Server-Side Masking: For your security, masking happens before the data reaches your browser. Original values for these fields are not transmitted over the network while the mode is active.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this protect data in exports or reports?

No. Anonymization Mode only masks data within the web interface. Any files you export (such as CSVs or PDFs) will still contain the original, unmasked data.

Can I leave Anonymization Mode on permanently?

Currently, the toggle resets upon logout. You must re-enable it at the start of each session if you wish to keep data masked.

I toggled it on, but some data (like procedure codes) is still visible. Why?

Anonymization focuses strictly on identifying information: names, DOB, age, phone, and email. Data points like appointment types, procedure codes, and dollar amounts are not masked.
