How is Scheduled Production calculated?
Last updated: June 15, 2026
Short answer: Scheduled Production is the total gross value of all procedures attached to the appointments on your schedule for a given period. TeamCare reads this directly from your PMS — it does not price procedures or set fees on its own. The number you see is a reflection of what's already in your practice management system.
Where the number comes from
In your PMS, every appointment is more than a time slot. Each appointment has treatment (procedure) records attached to it, and each of those procedures carries a gross production value based on your fee schedule.
TeamCare builds Scheduled Production by rolling those values up:
Each procedure has a gross production value (from your fee schedule).
Each appointment's production is the sum of all procedures attached to it.
Scheduled Production for a day, week, or month is the sum of appointment production across that window.
Gross production means the value before adjustments, write-offs, or insurance discounts — it's the full fee for the work that's scheduled.
Example
Say a patient is booked for a recall visit with three procedures attached:
Procedure | Code | Gross Fee |
|---|---|---|
Prophylaxis (adult cleaning) | D1110 | $110 |
Periodic oral evaluation | D0120 | $65 |
Bitewings (four films) | D0274 | $75 |
Appointment production | $250 |
That $250 is the appointment's production. Add up every appointment scheduled for the day, and you have that day's Scheduled Production.
Why this depends on your PMS
Because TeamCare reflects what's in your PMS, the accuracy of your Scheduled Production depends entirely on the accuracy of your appointments. Two things drive it:
Procedures must be attached to the appointment. If the front desk books the time but never attaches the planned treatment, that production won't roll up — even though the work is really on the books.
Fee schedules must be accurate. If a fee schedule is outdated or a procedure is mapped to the wrong fee, the production value will be wrong, and your totals will be off.
The discipline here lives in the PMS, not in TeamCare. Keeping treatments associated and fee schedules current is what makes Scheduled Production trustworthy.
Common reasons the number looks off
Procedures not attached to the appointment — the most common cause of production that looks lower than expected.
Outdated or incorrect fee schedule — production values come in too high or too low.
Wrong fee schedule applied to a provider or plan, so the same procedure prices differently than expected.
Procedures scheduled but later removed or moved to a different appointment or date.
The takeaway
Scheduled Production is a roll-up, not an estimate. It's only as accurate as the appointments behind it. Be diligent in your PMS — attach the right procedures to every appointment and keep your fee schedules current — and your Scheduled Production will reflect the real value of what's on your schedule.
